African-American, female, Democrat loves politics and all things political. I have been voting and supporting Dems since I could vote 20 years ago.

Manufactured Outrage and "nontroversies"

The MSM is so simple with its handwringing over the latest "outrage of the day" regarding Gen. Clark's comments. If the campaigns try to raise the discourse, guess who will not let them?  Yes, that's right, the MSM that has a serious crush on John McCain.  Instead of focusing on the real issues, the MSM will focus on easy sound bite crap.  But, none of them lifted a finger to defend John Kerry's service when he ran against Bush.  A great nation deserves better than the media we have.  In addition, while I am in full "rant" mode, I am sick of those stupid talking heads (sometimes called Pundits) who are so politically astute at parsing through every little stupid misstatement but don't engage on the issues that have the potential to cause major problems in this country.  For example, the ever deepening economic downturn that is really hurting people in this country.  Also, I love Michelle Obama and think that she is super person but why do I care where she buys her clothes or shops for bathroom tissue?  When are we going to raise this discourse in the country?  I expect this stuff from Fox News but what about the others?  I feel like I am watching a bad movie repeat itself over and over again.  Can't we do better?

Let's Bash McSame and Republicans

I decided to write this diary requesting participation in my "let's Bash McSame/Republican" party. I have a few good ones that I think are really crazy positions/flip flops of the Presumptive Republican Nominee and his party.  My personal favorite is, "I would not support my own immigration bill."  Or, "I really like women now because I need their votes" even though he has said some really nasty things towards women (including his own wife). How about, "the agents of intolerance that I now want to endorse me for President."  There is the greatest one of all, "I was against the Bush tax cuts before I was for them."

The above are in quotes but they are obvisously my phrasing of his positions. I have only named a few but there are obviously many.  There is so much to material to work with here folks.  To paraphrase Paul Begala, "[a]ttacking the Republicans is like a misquito at a nudist colony, every where you land, you are going to draw blood."

How about others join in with some good ones...

A confession...............

A Confession--I started the primary election not sure who I was going to vote for between Clinton and Obama. After watching and reading, I became one of those die hard Obama supporters that started to get offended as the primary went along toward some Clinton supporters.  As an African American female, I got so upset by the mean things said by some of Clinton's supporters toward Obama and blacks. I am not talking about this site in particular but in places all over the net.

1. Blacks were voting based on race not on policy.

  1. Sexism is worse than racism (They are both bad and as woman of color, I hate both).
  2. Blacks were ungrateful to the Clintons.
  3. Integration is okay but not black domination (which electing Barack president would cause these people felt?  I guess this is like some sports thing.  Blacks in football, basketball etc. what a stupid reason.)

I will not finish the list. Due to the above comments, I unplugged from the process because it became hurtful to me as a black woman.  Most blacks love this country and although we have thick skin to slights, it can sometimes be sad...  Anyway, I came to believe that I would never vote for Senator Clinton (a Democrat, like me) because of things that some of her supporters said that really made me feel like I had picked the wrong party.  Not that I would ever be a Republican... I was just stuck.
